In this review, the author shares the original idea of how to make a beautiful pattern on a 10x10 mm steel square with your own hands without forging.
First of all, the author cuts two identical along the length of a segment of a square bar and clamps them in a bench vise.
Workpieces need to be welded together from two sides - just put the tack. Next, you need to make marks with a caliper in increments of 1.5 cm from each other.
We take a square, and transfer the first mark to the back of the workpieces. We retreat from it 7 mm, after which we do the marking with the same step.
The main stages of work
We pass along the marks with a punch, and then drill holes with a drill for metal with a diameter of 10 mm to a depth of about 2-3 mm. We perform a similar operation from the back of the workpiece.
At the next stage, with the help of a grinder, we cut off the droplets of welding, and disconnect the parts. Turn them over with the opposite sides, again clamp in a vice and weld the ends.
Next, we make an offset of 7 mm from the first hole, and use a vernier caliper to mark marks on the workpiece in increments of 15 mm.
After that, we again go through the punch and drill holes with a 10 mm drill (everything is exactly the same as in the previous stage). We cut off the welding with a grinder.
Each square is clamped alternately in a vice, and using a angle grinder with a thin cutting wheel, we make two cuts between the holes (on each edge of a square bar).
