Making a scrap metal workshop table

A good workbench for a home workshop does not have to be bought at all. If you have unnecessarily scrap metal (trimming pipes, corners, etc.), then the desktop can be made independently. Thus, you will save money that you can spend on the purchase of supplies or tools.

Workshop desktop assembly steps

First of all, we weld a metal frame from steel corners (you can even use corners of different sizes) under the worktop of the workbench. Then we weld to the bottom of the frame "legs", which can be made of round steel pipes with a diameter of 40-50 mm. After that, we make the central emphasis from the profile pipe 25x25 mm and the jibs - from the profile 20x20 mm.

To give the whole structure more rigidity, you can weld a sheet of metal in the middle, which will also serve as a tool shelf. When the frame of the desktop is fully assembled, we proceed to the manufacture of countertops. This will require wooden boards (preferably dry) and a suitable sheet of laminate, which is used for door trim.

If you will use old boards from the construction site (for example, which were used for formwork) to make the worktop of the workbench for the workshop, then their surface must be cleaned with a brush from the influx of concrete, so that the laminate sheet lies flat. The metal frame of the table must be sanded and painted. For a detailed table making process, see the video on our website.
