If using a drill on workpieces made of wood, plastic and metal, it is necessary to make different radii, rounding or round shapes, then measuring everything by hand is quite problematic. It is best to use a special tool for these purposes - a compass, which will help to cope with the task much faster and better.
Homemade compasses for drills can be easily made with your own hands, using the most affordable materials that can be found in any home workshop.
Materials and milestones
For this homemade product, a steel bar with a diameter of 6 mm and a length of approximately 35-45 cm will be required, at one end of which it is necessary to thread. We clamp the metal rod in a vise, take a die of suitable diameter in our hands and get to work.
On the side of the plastic nozzle for the drill, we drill a hole with a diameter of 6 mm, into which we insert the rod and fix it on both sides with nuts (inside and outside the nozzle body). Next, we take a segment of the M8 hairpin and grind its edge to the cone on the emery machine.
In an elongated nut, we drill two holes (one without thread, the other with M8 thread). A steel bar is inserted into the upper hole, which is without thread, and a pin is twisted into the lower hole. Then we proceed to the assembly of the compass. For convenience, a lamb can be additionally screwed into the work process.
It is very convenient to use such a compass, and it will not be difficult to make it. In general, a useful and practical device that will definitely find its application in the home workshop.
