The main stages of work
First of all, using an angle grinder we remove the layer of friction material. Then cut off one of the brake pads in size.
Next, you will need to weld the pads together. In order for the weld to turn out reliable, it is imperative to chamfer the edges of the parts at the junction.
Using the tip of the tie rod, the handle of the ax can be made removable. The author decided to realize this idea.
Cut off a piece of the tip, screw the steering rod into it, and weld to the brake shoe.
At the last stage, it remains only to cut off all unnecessary and polish the metal.
